Appearing on Spooky Southcoast always feels like catching up with an old friend over a cup of coffee—or maybe a séance. Tim Weisberg, one of my favorite people in the paranormal world, never fails to make the conversation lively, insightful, and just the right amount of sarcastic. Our latest chat was no different as we dove into the threads connecting the paranormal, indie horror, and true crime.

A Paranormal Journey with a Friend Who Gets It

Tim and I have known each other for years, and it’s always a trip down memory lane when we chat. He brought up my early days in the paranormal field, reminding me of how far we’ve come since the mid-2000s. Back then, I was a “newbie” crashing the boys’ club of ghost hunting, turning heads for not just what I was uncovering but also for how I presented myself—unapologetically bold and entirely me.

Tim’s been one of the few people who has always understood my approach, even when others didn’t. He’s seen the grind it takes to carve out space in this field, and his support has always meant the world. Our banter is like the friendly roasting you’d expect from someone who’s seen you through the highs and lows. He gets it—the skeptics, the passion, and the unrelenting curiosity that keep us coming back for more.

The Blood, Sweat, and Creativity of Indie Horror

Tim and I also dug into my work in indie horror—a genre that’s as chaotic as it is creative. Indie horror is a beautiful mess of collaboration, resourcefulness, and sheer determination. As I told Tim, making a horror movie isn’t just about finding the perfect scream; it’s about managing no-shows, rethinking kill scenes on the fly, and making fake blood that stains your hair for weeks. (Yes, I still find it in my extensions.)

One of my favorite parts of indie horror is how it connects fans to the process. Crowdfunding campaigns offer perks like producer credits or even the chance to “die” on screen. Tim loved this concept, and we laughed about how it makes fans part of the story—both behind the scenes and in the final cut. It’s horror democratized, and I’m here for it.

True Crime Meets the Paranormal: Our Shared Obsession

Tim and I are both suckers for true crime, and it’s a thread that ties deeply into the paranormal. My investigations often take me to places where tragedies have left their mark—not just emotionally but sometimes physically. We talked about how trauma can echo through time, becoming part of a place’s DNA. It’s not just about ghosts; it’s about the human stories they’re connected to.

One of the things I love about chatting with Tim is how he takes these heavy topics and makes them accessible without losing their gravity. We swapped stories about how true crime inspires not just horror movies but our understanding of the paranormal itself. As I said on the show, ghosts are often storytellers—they’re just waiting for someone to listen.

Women Taking the Lead in Paranormal and Horror

Tim’s always been a champion for women in the paranormal and horror industries, and this episode was no exception. We shared a laugh about my early experiences in ghost hunting, where I was often underestimated (until I wasn’t). Tim’s perspective as a longtime friend gave him a front-row seat to the growth of women’s roles in these fields, and he’s as excited about it as I am.

From working with strong women like Stormy Daniels on Ax2Grind, who’s as talented behind the camera as she is in front of it, to seeing horror’s final girls become vigilantes, it’s clear that the narrative is changing. Tim and I both agreed: the days of one-dimensional damsels are over. Women are leading the charge, both on-screen and off, and it’s about time.

The Friendship That Keeps It Real

What makes Spooky Southcoast so special isn’t just the topics—it’s Tim. He’s not just a friend but an ally in navigating the weird, wonderful, and often challenging world of the paranormal. Whether we’re reminiscing about old investigations, debating the merits of crowdfunding a horror movie, or joking about our mutual love of bad films, Tim’s humor and insight always make for a conversation worth having.

So, if you haven’t tuned in to this episode yet, what are you waiting for? It’s got ghosts, true crime, horror, and a good dose of banter between two friends who’ve seen it all. And if you hear laughter echoing in the background, don’t worry—it’s just us, and maybe a ghost or two, keeping things interesting. Stay spooky, my friends, and don’t forget your flashlight. You never know what—or who—might be waiting in the dark.
